OUR STORY
From 100k to 5Â million
In the summer of 2020, Jackson Tanner and Ezekiel Wells walked a marathon in one day as a hobby during the covid-19 pandemic. They thought it would be a fun idea to walk double that in the future, so looking at the mental health effects of the pandemic, they decided to make a fundraiser out of the ordeal, and A Step in the Right Direction was born. In April 17th of 2021, they each walked 115,000 steps. With a loving community, Oak Park was able to raise $15,000 for mental health organizations. In 2022, they're determined to fundraise yet again. And it's not just the two of them. Jackson has moved to UT Austin where he's looping in the state of Texas. Two cross country buddies, Mike Allen and Mateo Reyes, have also joined the cause, running branches of ASRD in St. Louis, MOÂ and San Luis Obispo, CA. We're incredibly excited for you to join us on the journey as we move beyond the scope of Oak Park.
